The company

VerdeAI Oy is a Finnish technology company founded in 2025, whose goal is to make practical artificial intelligence solutions part of everyday forestry. We develop solutions that help forest owners, forestry companies and organisations make decisions faster, more accurately and more cost-effectively.

The product

Our company's main product is an AI model designed for forestry that identifies and maps forest damage caused by the European spruce bark beetle (Ips typographus), using aerial imagery collected by drones and AI-based image recognition. The solution makes it possible to detect damage at an early stage, so that control measures can be targeted at the right place before the damage expands.

Why now

Forest damage caused by the spruce bark beetle has increased in recent years as a result of climate warming and periods of drought. Regular monitoring of forests and rapid response are therefore more important than ever. VerdeAI's solution reduces the need for fieldwork, speeds up inspections and produces accurate geospatial data to support decision-making.
